Portuguese to English: Text for the Global Stone Congress Report General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Construction / Civil Engineering
situação geral do sector.
Translation - English The view of the foreign press
The press has been paying attention to the proceedings of the Congress, namely
accredited foreign journalists. We spoke with three of them, who gave us their
opinion about this gathering.
STEFANO REGALIA, editor of the Italian magazine "Diamante", believes that
the Congress is being very positive especially for the exchange of experiences
among so many professionals and for the opportunities to exchange views on the
general situation of the sector.
"I point out the high quality of the conferences, as well as the multiplicity
of the lecturers’ sources: this proves that this event is truly a global
happening", he said.
EMANUEL MATEUS DE CASTRO, editor of the Brazilian magazine "Rochas de
Qualidade", is one of the oldest and most highly regarded journalists of the
specialty, with over 40 years of work in the sector. In his view, the Congress
achieved its goals, mainly in its intellectual aspect.
There is, however, in his opinion, a critique to be done, "it was noted a low
input of entrepreneurs, perhaps too interested in lamenting the crisis
instead of endeavoring to evolve, learn more and position themselves
strategically in this so very competitive market. They lost a lot of the
innovation that was brought here and forgot that it is the union which makes the
strength, not the isolation!”, he recalled.
In the same direction spoke BARBARA MARABELI, from the Italian magazine
Macchina Marmo. "I think that entrepreneurs think that the crisis is
resolved obstinately managing the day-to-day of the company and they
forget that sending a technician to meetings like these enables their
business to a leap in innovation and knowledge."
She praised the wide range of interventions and papers presented, stating it’s a
rare case in these international meetings.
