Tobey Kim is an independent freelance translator specializing in game, IT and web contents, and languages he deals with are English, Japanese and Korean. Korean is his mother tongue, and he mostly translates from English or Japanese into Korean. Game localization is one of his major specialties; in fact, his work experience covers a couple of area of a respective industry: game development, game-specific business and game localization. He also has experienced several genres such as MMORPG, mobile game, online games and mobile console games as a game developer so his strength is that he is quite familiar with a general procedure of game development even though each company or each project could have a unique process. In regard to game localization, he has been working as not only a translator but also a project manager for a meaningful period of time, and this helps him grasp what most localization coordinators/agencies dealing with game contents want.
You will receive a high level of satisfaction from collaboration with him as he:
Has dealt with more than 850 translation projects & tasks and around 150 reviews/proofreading since 2013, as an independent translator.
Had experienced in more than 40 localization projects both in Korean and Japanese localization industry between 2008 and 2011, as an in-house translator & project manager. Language pairs he had mostly dealt with during this period were English to Korean and Japanese to Korean.
Has more than five-year work experience in the Korean game development industry as a game developer.
Is a good English user; He achieved overall band 7 in IELTS general module on 13th January of 2013 and is willing to improve his English skills in more advanced communication and writing.
