Translation - English It all began on July 10, 2008, I was the moderator and Executive Producer of a TV show called "MAGAZINE TRUJILLANO" in the regional television station of the city of Valera; TOTAL TV. My guest was Dr. Gassan Al Maaz (Former Director of the Valera's Central Hospital), FUNDASALUD President, active member of the political party PSUV and intellectual leader of the feared groups TUPAMAROS and also partner and front head of Gilmer Viloria, Hugo Cabezas and Henry Rangel Silva, who are powerful corrupt rulers and narco-mafia with huge tentacles in branch. It all started normally; at the beginning of the interview and then I pushed and publicly denounce him, in his own face, since he boasted (and still boasts) of complete impunity for his crimes, I was aware of two cases of corruption implicating directly and fully him. He did not expect that I bring it up, as well as also he didn't knew that I had been researching journalistically his governance in the public service. The cases were: 1. CASE OF ADMINISTRATIVE CORRUPTION: A millionaire budget for the hospital during his service as director; money simply vanished while hospital patients died for lack of supplies. 2. KIDNAPPING OF CORPSES: As Director of the Valera's Central Hospital, Dr. Al Maaz kidnapped the corpses in the morgue as far of shutting doors to private mortuaries, in order to transfer the funeral services to a mortuary whose owner was his front head; wreaking chaos to the families of the deceased and private mortuaries. The interview could not be finished as Dr. Al Maaz very upset and in an aggressive way threw me in the face the glass of water he had in his hand and threatened me saying, "Look little lady, things won't stay like this, you'd better not put on the air this program"; and left the TV Station very upset. The next day, when I get to work I received the letter of dismissal, several coworkers told me that Dr. Al Maaz call very angry and demanded my immediate dismissal to the TV station board. On July 13, 2008, I received a threatening call: It was the voice of a man and he said, "you'll regret for getting involved into what's not f your business" On August 1, 2008, at dawn, someone shot at my house, a bullet hit the window of my room and another one in the window of my car. I made a complaint to the police and it never got any results. I kept getting text messages and threatening phone calls and as August 16, 2008 I was very scared and paranoid; because of so many problems, harassment, fear and anxiety about threats, we moved to a new city, Merida. My husband opened a restaurant and just a month later, on September 16, 2008, in our business we received a new threat written on paper and left under the door that said quote: "BEWARE". That same day I made again the complaint to the police and did not got any results. My husband and I started to observe the presence of Tupamaros groups on motorbikes outside the restaurant, they looked at us in an defiant mood, they took photos of us and also talked on the cell phone . On March 18, 2009 I was at a march of the opposition when military officers and Tupamaros headed towards to me, they struck me so extremely with a shotgun on my belly that it caused me the abortion of my 10 weeks pregnancy, two months later, in May 2009, we moved again, this time to the city of Porlamar on Margarita Island. Losing that baby was very traumatic for me; now, because of me, just to uphold our fundamental rights as citizens and not stay silent about the abuse, my family and I were under persecution and harassment, in addition with a brutal and excessive force military officers and tupamaros that threaded us every day. Given the strong influence of my pursuer I even lost my profession as no TV station or media wanted to hire me, I started to work as assistant manager at a hotel which attended regularly serving military personnel, and that was when it started again, the threats and harassment. Always when I left my work they were on bikes chasing me a group of Tupamaros. Watchman of the private community where we lived was constantly asked: "If I was there, If he could let them get in" ; the watchman always refused to give them any information nor let them get in. A day at the hotel lobby, a group of Tupamaros, entered and screaming my name and left me a message: "for past debts you will have to pay", I lost my job over this event. My life was a mess, and I had to remain hidden in a friend's house, rarely went out because of fear. I exchanged my car with my friend to mislead them and prevent them to recognize me. I was pregnant again and fear and scare was overcoming me. My husband traveled to USA because of work in November 2010, even with fear and scare I had to return to Valera city alone with my oldest daughter, I lived once again hidden without even leaving into the street because of fear, as a pregnant I was very vulnerable, until June 2011 we I went to USA with my husband, where we lead a quiet life, peaceful and safe. In June 2012, the contract and work visa of my husband was finished, we went back to Venezuela believing that after all this time everything would be calm, but it was not so; On July 10, 2012, I was with my husband celebrating my birthday at a restaurant in town, I went to get my phone that I had forgotten in the car and when I reached the parking, Dr. Al Maaz himself was waiting for me with two of his bodyguards. Dr. Al Maaz said "I thought you were no longer in this world" and hit me in the face, arms and belly. In that moment several people came and the problem cleared. Dr. Al Maaz left quickly with his bodyguards leaving me lying on the floor. My husband was told of what happened to me and he ran to get up and help me, took me to a hospital to get served, since I was very sore and bleeding from the mouth. From that time on it returned the threats and harassment and I had to get hided again, I was desperate, I fell into a depression when I found out that on April 12, 2013, government armed groups killed my colleague Doris Viloria Palomares; also wounding others colleagues by simply fact of been investigating corruption cases. I had good relationship with her and we had worked together on several journalistic investigations of corruption cases, it devastated me. I remained nearly six months in total confinement, I had exhausted all remedies and nothing worked, we were totally unprotected and I felt guilty, my husband had done some job search outside of Venezuela and he was called to work in Canada; we left Venezuela on January 21, 2013. We thought stay in Canada only for the time of my husband's contract because we love our country, our climate, our families, I do not speak English and I had faith that everything would change and that we would have a normal life again, we were planning our return in March 2015, on December 2014 I was surprised for my parents a trip to Canada, it made me happy until they said they had come personally to alert us that our situation is increasingly worse and more serious and they are worried because now even telephones or other means of communication are under surveillance and threats continue, in our social environment is known that we are planning to go back on March 2015 to Venezuela. A group of Tupamaros have made threats or "warnings" to my parents. As far that a tupamaro narrated a textual conversation I had with my father days before via SMS.
Conversation Between MY FATHER AND I:
"Dad I haircut baby's hair thinking that in shortly we will return to Venezuela; in March we can enjoy the warmth of the city, meet again and share in family, I miss you."
This frightens me greatly, since we have no privacy in our communication and our conversations are monitored by phone, email, social networks and even messaging.
My parents also complained threats to police, but everything remains the same, without law to halt this harassment or offer us security. That's why I decided to claim refuge in Canada due the imminent risk for my life and the life of my daughters and for our security; because of continuous threats and given the power of our teaser Dr. Al Maaz and its influential and mafia accomplices Gilmer Viloria, Hugo Cabezas and Henry Rangel Silva.
