I'm a freelance Italian to English translator. My specialisms include the following text types: >> Art and culture, Italian history (ancient and modern) and politics, current affairs, travel and tourism sector, museums >> Neuroscience and related behavioural disciplines (I wrote my MA thesis on neuroscience), health-related and health information texts. I'm a native English speaker, and an Associate Member of ITI, ITI MedNet, and the ITI Italian and Art & Tourism Networks.
I have an MA (with Merit) in Italian to English translation (University of Bristol), BA in Italian (2:1) (University of London), BA in Latin with Ancient Greek (2:1) (University of Leicester), and a Diploma in Human Resources Management. I am currently studying for a PhD (part-time) with the University of London.
Since I only translate from Italian to English I have a high level of language proficiency and cultural awareness, enhanced by spending a lot of time in Italy. Previous work experience was in human resources and for the Department of Employment in an advisory capacity. My work is accurate and I take time to assess the correct register in order to produce the best possible result for a client, always in accordance with their requirements; I am always happy to discuss these in detail. I follow the EC English Style Guide (or any other preferred style guide) and take pride in carefully editing and proofreading the finished translation. I consider CPD to be extremely important, attend training courses that are appropriate to my interests and skills, and complete ITI's recommended CPD hours each year. To maintain and hone my language skills I regularly meet with a native Italian speaker and IT< >EN translator. I also carry out a lot of research into my specific areas of interest and specialisation.
