Translation - English EYEWITNESS (SAKSI MATA)
By Seno Gumira Ajidarma
Jakarta, 4 March 1992

Translated by Steve Andrianto
That eyewitness comes without eyes. He staggered into the center of the court with his hands fumbling in the air. From the sockets where his eyes were flows blood so red like there is no other red redder than the red of the blood which flows slowly and continuously from those eye sockets.
The blood soaks his cheeks, soaks his shirt, soaks his trousers, soaks his shoes and flows slowly on the court floor which has actually been mopped cleanly with carbolic acid whose aroma can even still be smelled by the guests, who are now panicking and shouting with their welling-up emotions while the reporters, who always respond enthusiastically to tumultuous situations, are taking pictures of the Eyewitness from every angle, even by bending their bodies over, causing the flashing lights to exacerbate the situation.

Years of experience: 8. Registered at ProZ.com: Jul 2017.
My name is Steve. I am a graduate from a university in Indonesia. I major in English Language Education, and am particularly interested in translation field. I am very passionate about translation, particularly stories (novel), as I also love reading novel, and legal translation.
I have around 9-month experience working as a translator. Once I worked as an intern to translate mainly company documents and software manuals from English to Indonesia. I also work as a freelance translator through Upwork.com and once received a job to translate Decree of the Minister of Forestry on the Permit of Borrow-to-use Forest Areas from Indonesian to English. I am currently working as a website translator. I translate articles in the website of the university where I studied. However, I really dream of becoming a book or novel and legal translator.
I am currently developing a website: www.storiesfromnusantara.wordpress.com. The website contains Indonesian short stories and folktales that I have translated into English. I do not get paid for the translation. I merely do the translation to channel my hobby and passion.
I hope that by joining Proz.com, I can learn more about translation from the community, and develop my connection and links as a translator.
