Translation - English Location
Granada is located in a district called Vega of Granada, and it is the capital of Granada province. It is located in the Spanish Baetic mountain range System, in a large valley which the Genil River runs through before flowing into the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is one of the most enchanting cities in the southern Spanish region of Andalucía (or Andalusia in English), in the south of the Iberian peninsula.
A snippet of history
Granada has one of the most important cultural heritages of the entire country. The city was founded by the Romans, who named it “Illibris”. In the 8th century AD, the Muslims invaded the country. They named the city Granada.
Granada is made up of neighbourhoods that you will be love to get lost in. The most well-known ones are: Albaicín, Sacromonte, Realejo and Cartuja, among others.
Granada is thought to have a huge welcoming heart given the amount of tourism it attracts. This is largely due to the number of monuments that span the city, as well as its historic quarter. An example of architecture that represents the city is, without doubt, “The Alhambra”, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
