Hi! My name’s Cristina and I am a translator specialized in videogame localization and narratology, always transcribing whole fictive worlds from English into European Spanish. But first, let’s play a game… Have you ever? Have you ever had a beautifully written script that couldn’t reach its intended international audience? Have you ever had the most incredible story in your hands but was not well received in Spanish territories? Have you ever though ‘Why?’
If you have, your translated works lack narrative introspection. Your fictive worlds are not built correctly. If you haven’t, you are right on time to prevent it.
When translating to another language, perfectly written pieces may loss in some extent their particular humour, its characterization or what is worse: their identity. The narrator’s fluency, all its characters, the stipulated world they live in, their modisms… all play a crucial part in the script that needs to be understood first in order to be transcreated for a new audience that wants the same experience in their native language.
Maybe that one panel should have this sound effect instead. Maybe that character should say “I love it!” instead of “it’s nice”. Maybe this whole sentence needs to be rewritten to be better understood.
A fan base it is always built over a great story that can be interpreted personally after it has been told with passion and care. The way in which it is built will affect how it’s perceived as well as how its audience will engage with it. The services I offer are focused on these premises, so here you have an interdisciplinary translator that can localize your videogames, translate your books and comics or translate your scripts for dubbing and voice-over. If you have a narrative project (even if it is not one of the mentioned above) you have found the right translator for you.
What can I do for your worlds?
