I translate/proofread/edit English to Swedish and am also fluent in English as I worked for 53 years in USA, S.Africa, England, Australia. My name is Ann-Charlotte Minnaar; I have been translating for 10 years - first 3 years pro bono and last 8 years commercially. My early education was in Swedish language and literature and World Religions and I am proficient in those fields. I also studied physics, chemistry and mathematics so am somewhat familiar with those subjects. My translation experience on the pro bono material was 45 pages of a court of law decision from Australia, 42 pages of medical texts and some promotional and education texts. Professionally freelancer. Have translated IT texts, marketing, medical and educational texts and manuals from English to Swedish. Between January 2021 to January 2023 I completed translations for 59 projects of a total of 178,892 words. This is an average of 3,032 words per project. March 2023 – Oct 2025 52 projects of IT, marketing, medical manuals, dieselmotor manual and MPTE. Average 1,000 – 3,000 words per project. Another 10 IT and marketing projects of 2,500 words. A series of 10 car marketing and marketing projects concerning accessories of 11,800 words. Approximately 200 translations projects professionally of average 3000 words per project. Approx 381,000 - 400,000 words. From Oct 2025 to Oct 2026 I have translated a total of 172,000 words for two major translations companies. What I enjoy the most is communicating in all types of fields - thus turned into the field of translations/proofreading/editing last 8 years. Additionally my hobbies are gardening, reading and travelling. My method of handling incoming projects if I am already in progress on another project is to note the the deadline and read through it to see if I am able to do it and in time. Then I communicate back to the client or agency and complete my current project. For a new project I study it fully to ensure I understand it; study any style log and instructions and then systematically do it segment by segment. I use SDL Trados Studio 2021 and usually do XBench and QA reports. Have now also gotten some experience in XTM and Amazon CAT tools. I really enjoy what I do and am open to all types in the field of translations!
