Source text - English In my translation workflow, three basic principles/priorities are involved.
Accuracy.
Not only present the actual meaning of the objects, but also use the most background suitable translation. For instance, sentences in Satisfactory, would be likely translated into those contents you can see in operation manuals or reference books, cause you're playing as an employee who work for Fiscit.
Readable.
Reading consumes patience and energy, no offense to those story-based games. I will keep translations as brief as possible.
Familiarity.
This might not common for non-indie games, game-play contents are not completed for most indie games which have longer develop period. Translation might be taken part in by multi hands. Even a string missed it accrue translation, changing easily could lead to confusion for early access players who may also be huge fans or UGC providers. Therefore, balancing is the necessary job.

这点在独立游戏外比较少见,对于独立游戏来说,游戏内容一开始并不是尽善尽美,开发周期也更长,因此翻译内容也可能被多次接手。而对于熟悉了原先翻译文本的玩家,即使文本没有准确翻译,轻易变更翻译内容也可能会直接冲击玩家群体,导致这一批忠实玩家和内容作者概念混淆。因此,权衡习惯性和准确性就是一项必要的工作。
