Bio
Hi
there!
My name is Arthur Guedes, I'm 24
years old and I currently work as a freelance translator and subtitler from
English into Brazilian Portuguese. I'm looking for opportunities in the field
of Technical and Audiovisual Translation. I consider myself to be an
enthusiastic, detail-oriented, versatile and committed translator, always
striving to deliver work of the highest quality.
My journey in translation began in
the editorial field in 2018, as an article writer for an extreme sports
magazine. Having already graduated in English from the BRASAS course, I wrote
articles and disseminated sports and cultural audiovisual content, such as
films, championships and interviews, naturally translating them because they
were mostly in English and adapting the writing style to the specific target
audience.
After this
period as an article writer, at the same time as starting my studies in
International Commerce at IBMR University, I entered in the orthopedic
prostheses industry, working on the documentation part of an orthopedic prosthetic
components manufacturing company in Brazil. Together with a multidisciplinary
team of orthopedic technicians, engineers, production managers and other
specialists in the field, I worked on interpreting, translating and revising
dozens of technical manuals, as well as developing and revising internal
documents on the production processes side.
My experience with prosthetics gave a
vast knowledge of terminology and technical norms and also familiarity in the
field of business management, encouraging me to improve my abilities in Technical
Translation, and expand my range of interest in different fields of translation,
I started taking lessons in the Vida de Tradutor translation course and entered
a new journey of apprenticeship. I discovered a great aptitude for Audiovisual
Translation and today, along with Technical Translation, I provide voluntary
translation, subtitling and proofreading work for the audiovisual platforms TedTranslators
and Amara, seeking a responsible insertion in this market.
