English to Portuguese: The Day I Realized I Owned a School General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English One day, I exported from Hotmart a list of students for administrative purposes (a lot goes on behind the scenes of an online business — as easy and seamless as it may seem, it ain’t). My eyes watered as I noticed the number of lines in the spreadsheet: almost 1,000 students.
That’s when it hit me: that’s more than a full classroom of students. That’s an entire School! Wait… I guess *I do* own a School.
Think about it: where do you go to learn hard and soft skills to prepare yourself for adult life? For college? For the job market? SCHOOL. And that’s exactly what I was doing in my courses: teaching specific skills, while also covering mindset, market trends, and thefoundation for customer prospection approaches.
That realization definitely changed the way I saw and wentabout my business. It showed me I could favor the big picture and broaden the spectrum of knowledge I could share, especially considering how my *(secret)* main focus is to help multipotentialites build a multiple, profitable, and fun career of personal and professional fulfillment.
I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker working as a translator of fiction and nonfiction texts (EN>PTBR), specializing in the Humanities and Social Sciencies, focusing on Literature and Education. I am also a subtitler, and I offer proofreading and MTPE services.
I hold a B.A. in Languages and Literature from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and I have experience working as a Portuguese, English, Literature and Writing teacher, helping students with both their language and writing skills in different genres and formats.
I've been studying English for over two decades now, and I always loved reading since I was a kid, from Agatha Christie's novels to every other piece of writing I could get my hands onto, including all kinds of magazines, History books and even Philosophy, and I truly think I can use all this passion, abilities and hard work to help people from my native language to have access to an incredible amount of knowledge out there.
