ABSTRACT
Air pollution control for sinter bands has historically been focused on dust removal from primary and secondary off-gas. Cyclones or electrostatic precipitators have been the standard solution to comply with environmental legislation. Now, the pressure to develop new technology is increasing as the emission limits are lower.
In Latin America there are integrated steel mills that are requesting dust emissions limits of less than 30 mg/Nm3 and in Europe legislation is requiring that some of the major steel companies control both dioxines and sulphur dioxide.

RESUMEN
El control de la contaminación del aire para bandas de sínter ha estado centrado históricamente en la eliminación del polvo del off-gas primario y secundario. La solución estándar para cumplir con la legislación ambiental ha sido la utilización de ciclones o precipitadores electrostáticos. En la actualidad, a medida que bajan los límites de emisión crece la presión para desarrollar nuevas tecnologías.
En América Latina existen laminadoras de acero que piden límites de emisión de polvo inferiores a 30 mg/Nm3 y la legislación europea requiere que algunas de las principales empresas de acero controlen las dioxinas y el anhídrido sulfuroso.
