Source text - French Configuration
Pour la mise en service, il est nécessaire de décrire au logiciel X la configuration de votre installation.
Dans le menu Démarrer (Démarrer > Tous les programmes > X > Configurateur X) vous trouverez le configurateur du serveur X.
La fenêtre suivante va vous permettre de sélectionner le serveur que vous souhaitez configurer (qui doit bien sur être sur le même réseau que la machine ou vous utilisez le configurateur)
Translation - English Configuration
For activation, you must describe your system’s configuration to the X software.
You will find X’s server configurator in the Start menu (Start > All programs > X > X Configurator).
The next window will let you select the server that you wish to configure (which should of course be on the same network as the machine on which you are using the configurator)
Translation - English - Default value. This is the value that an attribute initially takes for the elements belonging to its environment. It is not obligatory and this means that there can be attributes that do not take any value for elements in their environment, unless the user expressively assigns this value. To add a default value to the attribute, press the Add value button and enter or select the desired value. If the attribute is multi-valued, more than one default value can be added.
Years of translation experience: 15. Registered at ProZ.com: May 2007.
I am an Irish citizen, graduated from University College Dublin with studies in Electronic Engineering. Since graduating I have worked as an engineer or IT specialist through French (in Paris), Spanish (in Valencia, Spain), and Italian (in Perugia, Italy). I have also done extensive linguistic studies and have fluency diplomas in Spanish (DELE superior) and French (DELF, soon DALF). Since working for a translation firm in Italy that trained me in professional translation techniques, I have been working as a freelance translator for several years and have translated documents for some of the world's largest IT firms. It is work that I thoroughly enjoy and get great satisfaction out of doing.
Due to my background I translate IT Hardware, and software related documents and write them exactly as an engineer / IT specialist would, and not as a mere translation of the words. I can work from French, Spanish and Italian. I also work Saturdays, so Monday deadlines are not a problem. My translation rate is quite competitive in today's environment considering I do not treat them as a translation, but as an engineering/technology document that is to be read as clearly and naturally as possible, which can only be done by somebody with the training and experience in the field that I have.
I use the latest Trados, version 2009, for all translations and can also use Wordfast/OmegaT when requested to. All documents I produce are in British English (the professional writing standard in Ireland), and American English requests are also possible as I have lived in the states for some time and am very familiar with the differences and intricacies of the English language from teaching it. Clear communication with outsourcers is a priority and I always look to have a friendly, as well as professional, relationship with those I am in touch with regularly.
