Source text - English According to The UNDP 2007 Human Development Report , the international community is investing very little in terms of financial support for adaptation and the funds available from climate financing mechanisms and official bilateral help amount only to 200 million US dollars. The critical balance drawn by UNDP and others on the implementation of national adaptation plans is inextricably linked with the latter’s under funding. This under funding is also relevant from the gender perspective, for one effect of the evident lack of willingness on the part of the donor community to reduce the vulnerability of the poor population is that it serves ultimately to intensify the especially high vulnerability of women and raises the risk that climate change could deprive them of their livelihoods.
Translation - Spanish Según señala el Informe sobre Desarrollo Humano 2007 del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD), la comunidad internacional ha invertido muy poco en términos de apoyo financiero para la adaptación al cambio climático. Además, los fondos provenientes de mecanismos de financiación para afrontar dicho cambio y la ayuda bilateral oficial respectiva no superan los 200 millones de dólares. El crítico saldo obtenido por el PNDU y otras organizaciones con respecto a la aplicación de planes nacionales de adaptación al cambio climático se encuentra intrínsecamente relacionado con la referida subfinanciación. Esta subfinanciación también es relevante desde la perspectiva del género, pues algunos de los efectos de la evidente falta de voluntad por parte de la comunidad donante de reducir la vulnerabilidad de la población más pobre son, a la larga, la intensificación de la vulnerabilidad particularmente alta de las mujeres y un mayor riesgo de que el cambio climático las prive de su sustento.
