English to Polish: European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion General field: Other Detailed field: Government / Politics
Source text - English Europe joins forces to fight poverty and social exclusion
Almost 84 million Europeans live at risk of poverty, which means they face insecurity, and go without what most people often take for granted.
Living in poverty may result in a variety of problems, from not having enough money to spend on food and clothes to suffering poor housing conditions and even homelessness. Poverty also means having to cope with limited lifestyle choices that may lead to social exclusion.
Inspired by its founding principle of solidarity, the European Union has joined forces with its Member States to make 2010 the European Year For Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. The key objectives are to raise public awareness about these issues and renew the political commitment of the EU and its Member States to combat poverty and social exclusion.
The guiding principle of the 2010 Year is to give voice to the concerns of people who have to live with poverty and social exclusion, and to inspire every European citizen and other stakeholders to engage with these important issues.
This Year also aims to challenge stereotypes and collective perceptions of poverty. By harnessing the EU’s principles of solidarity and partnership, 2010 represents a clarion call to tackle the causes of poverty head-on in a bid to ensure everyone can play a full and active role in society.
Translation - Polish Europa łączy siły w walce z ubóstwem i wykluczeniem społecznym
Unia Europejska, zainspirowana zasadą solidarności stanowiącą podwaliny jej struktur, połączyła swe siły z państwami członkowskimi i ogłosiła rok 2010 Europejskim Rokiem Walki z Ubóstwem i Wykluczeniem Społecznym.

Experience
Years of experience: 18. Registered at ProZ.com: Feb 2008.
My adventure with professional translation, transcreation and writing started almost four years ago. For me languages and translation is not just a job, but a real passion and a way of life.
Currently I work as a freelance translator for Mostra (a media agency offering communication services to the European Parliament), where I translate and proofread subtitles for EUParlTV, the EU Parliament's TV platform. Subjects of translated texts depend on the current work of the European Parliament and include such areas as legal and financial affairs, healthcare and politics. Through this company I also translate texts for the European Commission (the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion). I also collaborate on a regular basis with SDI Media, where I translate and proofread subtitles for Animax and AXN movies and programmes.
I also provide transcreation, copywriting and press monitoring services and have cooperated with such companies as Tipping Sprung, SNL Financial, PMR Publications.
Until December 2008 I worked as a reporter and deputy editor for a London-based magazine called EURALex, translating news on pharmaceuticals, medical devices and food legislation into English from the following languages: Polish, Czech, Slovak, Russian and Ukrainian. I also wrote my own texts for the publication, I am therefore familiar with the process of creative writing and structuring written content in such a way as to make it appealing to the target readership.
I translate from and to the following languages:
from English into Polish (native language)
from Polish into English
from Russian into Polish and English
from Slovak into Polish and English
from Czech into Polish and English
from Ukrainian into Polish and English
