Achats « en Primeur » purchase of new/young wines Explanation: vin au primeur means young wines that are consumed rather soon after harvest. A "Primeur" in vegetables is a specialist/trader dealing in fresh vegetables, again confirming the connotation of fresh/new/young. Reference: http://europa.eu.int/eurodicautom/ |

Achats « en Primeur » wine futures Explanation: Anna, I'm not sure about this, but maybe this info will help. This column is dedicated to the sale of 2004 « En Primeur » Bordeaux wines. Purchasing or subscribing « En Primeur » is a particularly interesting process of selling wines. As a matter of fact, it allows you to buy long before their release, the wines of the last harvest that are being raised in the Châteaux. With this process, you can save as much as 10 to 30%, according to the Châteaux and production, compared to the prices on the open market. Moreover, some wines are available in very limited quantities and are totally sold as .En Primeur. and cannot be found two years later. http://www.gvf.fr/primeurs/welcome_eng.html Primeur : This has two meanings. It is applied firstly to easy young wines released for drinking soon after the vintage. It is also the name of the marketing system for "wine futures" – wines from famous properties sold even before they are bottled. Wines sold "en primeur" are still in barrels when consumers buy them. Consumers are assured of buying at the best price, have their wines delivered to them about two years later. Through WINE and CO, you can buy en primeur wines from all over France. Go to the Primeur page. http://www.wineandco.com/uk/e-vintage/liv-uk/lexique.html#le...
