I have a chart with list of job titles, and this one is on the list - however, also on the list is "Ingénieur étude technique", which apparently also means "Development Engineer". Or, is there a difference between these two terms? Apparently they are in fact two different individuals at this company.

As for the "Ingénieur étude technique", it could well be rendered as "Research Engineer," imho, or "Technical Research Engineer" if you like
