"Chronotachograph" looks so tempting, doesn't it... but I'm not convinced. I certainly think "electronic" is redundant (I think anyone would know such a device is electronic, even a technophobe such as myself!)
"*Cronotahograful* de la Siemens VDO omologat
Siemens VDO Automotive AG a primit omologarea cronotahografului sau digital DTCO 1381 din partea Autoritatii Germane Federale a transporturilor. *DTCO 1381* este omologat peste tot în Europa..."
When you look on Siemens' own website to see what they call this item, you get "tachograph":
"The Siemens VDO DTCO 1381 is the first ‘smart card’ tachograph to be calibrated in the UK..."
http://www.siemensvdo.co.uk/press/releases/fleetmanagement/2...
"Chronotachograph" just doesn't seem common at all (only 53 hits, and I've never heard of one). My Chambers dictionary defines "tachograph" as:
"a recording tachometer; a tachogram; an instrument fitted to commercial vehicles to record mileage, speed, number and location of stops, etc."
If that sounds about right to you, then I think this is perhaps the best option.

analogue tachograph
The driver should note all the reasons for doing so on the back of his
tachograph record sheet (if using an analogue tachograph) or on a printout or temporary sheet (if using a digital tachograph).

: Scuze, n-am văzut răspunsul Dvs. înainte de a posta al meu! Having said that, I'm not sure of "analogue" because I have found examples of "cronotahograf electronic digital", which obviously couldn't be "digital analogue tachograph"!

Mulţumesc, dar nu e cazul pentru scuze. Am dat click mai repede, that's all :). Da, cred că trebuie făcută diferenţierea analog/digital, din ce-am văzut în acel document.
