Spanish term

acuñado

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Gaskets
Hello,
I am translating a text about a gasket which comprises "una superficie acuñada que se deforma y aumenta la superficie de apoyo de la junta".
Some more (not-very-informative) context: "...la estanqueidad del acoplamiento recae en dos juntas acuñadas que hacen apoyo en la superficie de la tubería..."
I would appreciate any thoughts as to what "acuñada" might mean here.
Thanks in advance!

I think the only solution for this is a game of eeny, meeny, miny, moe!
Thanks for all the suggestions.

wedged

Estoy pensando que tal vez se refiere a que tienen forma de cuña. Which makes sense to me, cause a wedge can be used to make parts fit tightly.

embossed

These are gaskets that have a raised (embossed) surface around the opening to be sealed. They are widely used in joining flanged pipe and manifold connections. The embossing deforms as it flattens out under the pressure of tightening and thus produces a better seal.

if in doubt, don't go for "cradled" etc., stick to the most basic!
