However, the author of your text appears to be using "medios materiales" to mean "tangible property". I don't believe they're including intellectual property, but patents and trademarks don't really fit into this subject matter.

agree  Janet Ross Snyder: This sounds to me like the terminology I would expect to see in a legal document and it expresses the meaning as I understand it.
