Russian term or phrase: Пробежка по вехам советской мультпропаганды
This is a sub-heading in an article on the history of the Soviet animated propaganda. The section announced by this sub-heading gives an overview of certain major periods and trends of the genre. It is often ridiculed and made fun of by the author, so I think it's important to convey a sceptical mood in translating "пробежка", for example.

I feel like 'overview' is just too plain for this article filled with irony.

And I also need your advice regarding "вехи".

A gallop through the highlights of Soviet animated propaganda
Explanation:
I was really looking for some alliteration, but I couldn't find the right words! "Gallop" here has an ironic tinge.

Other choices here: a gallop through the archives/history.
You don't really need to retain веха because "gallop" implies that only the highlights will be considered.

I admired Valery's 'wreck marks'. Yet I'm choosing David's 'galloping through the highlights' for the simple reason that I want to use easily recognizable, familiar words in the translation.

Thank you!

Traipsing through the milestones of Soviet animated propoganda

Explanation:
If the author is being ironic and critical, then you could hint at this by translating "пробежка" creatively. Literally it would be something like a "run through the milestones" - similar to an overview.

"Traipse" could convey a lack of purpose or the translators unwillingness to view these "milestones" as achievements worthy of this description.

I might add that "animated Soviet propAganda (spelled wrong in answer)" sounds better to my ear, but if "animated propaganda" is a fixed term, then Soviet could precede it.

Scamper through the wreck marks of the Soviet animated propoganda

Explanation:
Пробежка - это БЕГЛЫЙ обзор, traipsing тут явно misleading.
Предлагаю в отношении скептицизма поработать над вехами.
