This person describes how she was nearly killed and explains:

- You were almost killed?
- I'm crossing the street and this guy runs a light. He was aiming right for me.
- Was it another woman you stiffed?

From your context, it almost sounds like it was a woman scorned, i.e. the guy didn't show up for a date, thus,

The first time, he stiffed her because he was not sure that she would show up. She did, but she was not mad. Then they set up to meet there again. Both showed up.
