by hand Explanation: Let's for a moment forger the plural "mani" which could well be a typo or a not-so-common way of saying it. Let's focus on the preposition. If it was "in hand" I think it should say "in mano". Also you say this is in the actual letter (not the envelope) so the letter would already have been opened and too late if not delivered in the right hands.
