English term or phrase: tranches

"In an effort to adjust the simplified IPR model to the new situation, the main principle of the “facilitated” IPR would be kept: inward processing without prior examination of the economic conditions would be open for defined quantities of basic products. The quantities of basic products would be distributed among operators using a system of certificates. DG Enterprise is thinking of modifying current modalities of IP certificates in view of simplifying them and making them more operational, in particular for SMEs. It reflects on using some elements of the system in place for refund certificates, such as the number of ***tranches*** for the distribution of IP certificates and the system of controls (with recipes for determining the quantities of exported sugar).
