Asker: Это техническая инструкция радиочастотного идентификатора, используемого на линиях по убою скота. К идентификации личности никакого отношения не имеет. Встречается всего в двух предложениях: в вышеприведенном и "The First Finger flag (first gambrel of the EURO gambrel installation) is either 0 or 1, depending on the state of the First Finger input before reading the Tag"

Если значения могут быть только 0 или 1, то я бы предположил, что это первая цифра (или риска - если номер подан как штрих-код и т.п.) этого самого номера. finger - палец - эта основа счета, от пальцевого счета произошло ряд систем счета, более простых, чем напр. арабская, в частности, римская (латинская), где связь с пальцами очевидна.
