I know Übergang is generally something like junction or transition, but it can mean several other things too, and what it's supposed to mean here, I wouldn't have a clue. TIA for any light you can shed.

Makes me think of a 'taper'.
Schneiden von Übergängen: cutting of tapers
Taper
Taper refers to a hairstyle done by carefully cutting the hair using either clippers or scissors, for creating a smooth transition between different hair lengths. It can be done in 2 ways - a dramatic crisp transition or a more flowing and softer look. This is another style which can be combined with a few others.

Note from asker:
You might be onto something with "tapers" there, and one of your references even mentions transitions a couple of times! Certainly seems to be hairdressing terminology of some kind, based on the second sentence. |
4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Yeah, I suppose it must be something like transition areas on either the scissors or hair (and maybe tapers if the latter). Thanks everyone for your assistance with this very tricky use of a fairly common word."

just a thought

overlap
where the two blades intersect. The 'fließend' seems to be just an embellishment.
23 hrs
gradation
Is meant here, I think. Mostly used with barbers/haircutting but also in film (where it seems to mean fade-out or fade-in). Plenty of examples under google <Übergang beim Schneiden>

please give some context or a para. please
Note from asker:
The context, as I clearly explained in the question, is hairdressing scissors. And I've given the sentence in which the word appeared. I can't give a paragraph, because my text doesn't have them - only "bullet points". |

: Hallo Gabriella, deine Anfrage ist sicherlich berechtigt, allerdings bist du in die falsche "Rubrik" gerutscht ;-) Da müsste auf dem Button irgendetwas wie "discussion" stehen (und nicht reference).

Discussion
"ABC mit erodierten Tulipzähnen auf Oberbeck ermöglicht leichtes, ange-nehmes Arbeiten beim dynamischen Schneiden von Übergängen"
Now I'm even more confused about this word than ever. I thought the "Übergänge" were part of the scissors (and there was nothing to suggest otherwise). However, if "Übergänge" are something that are CUT, then maybe they're a feature of the hair and not the scissors???
