French term

vitre auto raffinée

French to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks New Honda Civic models
"Grâce à des coussins gonflables de sécurité standards, un système de verrouillage centralisé, des prétendeurs de ceintures de sécurité et une caractéristique de vitre auto raffinée, l’impact des collisions et des accidents sera considérablement réduit."

I can't think of anything to do with it apart from going literal.

*Fr. (Can.) > Eng. (UK)

Thanks.

I don't see what's wrong with "prétendeur"? This seems to be the standard term for belt pre-tensioners. But it does give new meaning to "prétendeur au trône"...
Jean Lachaud Apr 27, 2011:
It pobably would be easier and faster to track down the original English copy from which this French was translated. No way this was written from scratch by a French-speaking copywriter. "prétendeurs"?!

One of the occasions when one language tends to use the singular where the other uses the plural.

a special type of automobile window glass

I don't think this has anything to do with "self-refining", but is more likely to be a kind of glass (laminated or toughened) which breaks in such a way as to prevent splintering, shattering, or otherwise contributing to injury.

Without actually saying what this characteristic of car glass is and what makes it refined.
