Italian to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) calibration

I'm not exactly sure what "riferibile" means in this context:
Il segnale d’uscita sarà misurato con uno strumento tarato e riferibile, con incertezza di misura commisurata alle necessità della taratura: l’incertezza dovrà essere possibilmente contenuta entro ¼ dell’incertezza nominale dello strumento in taratura.

The term is used in several places within the text and always indicating the use of a measurement instrument (to calibrate something else) where that instrument has itself been calibrated with another instrument. But I can't get a handle on how to translate riferibile
