Punzón

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
Hola a todos:

Estoy buscando una palabra en inglés para decir "punzón". Me refiero al tipo de punzón que se usa en las escuelas para picar un papel sobre una alfombrilla. Es decir, un instrumento de madera acabado en una aguja.

Saludos.

Discussion

Andrew Bramhall Sep 9, 2013:
It probably means some textile covered board which allows pins to be stuck in it to hold paper notices in place; 'alfombrilla' is a mouse mat or pad in Spanish;

What does alfombrilla mean here? I don't fully understand the bit about schools. And could you give us the sentence containing the word, please?

agree Neil Ashby : To me, the asker's description sounds like a "wooden" push pin....though plastic is much more typical.
