English to German translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law (general) / Anti-Korruptions- und Anti-Bestechungsgesetze
English term or phrase:fraud settlement
"Retailer fined $53 million in FCPA violations" "DOJ charged Pharmaceutical $70 million for third party bribery" "Company charged $8 million for a bribe of an employee"
und
"New anti-corruption compliance training included in fraud settlement"
fraud = "Deception in order to gain by another's loss, trickery; artifice or deception practiced to cheat, deceive or circumvent another to his injury" (nach Webster)
Although the case did not go to court and Mega Global was not convicted, the settlement and fines were extremely costly. Mega Global paid $300,000 profits from its contracts with the Highway Patrol. Also, as part of a non-prosecution agreement, Mega Global paid a $275,000 fine and agreed to take immediate remedial steps to incorporate a compliance training program for the elimination of facilitation payments.
Vielen Dank schon mal an euch alle!
Let’s review a scenario loosely based on a recent settlement for violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. According to allegations of the Department of Justice and the Securities Exchange Commission, a company, Mega Global had a subsidiary, Mini Global. The Department of Justice alleged that an employee of Mini Global made improper payments to several Highway regulatory officials in order to influence the Highway Patrol to award Mega Global new contracts, to facilitate pre-delivery inspections, to secure compliance certificates, and to put a stop to excessive tax audits. The individual payments were as small as $25.00 per month, but they totaled more than $30,000 over one year. Mega Global was held accountable for the violations of their subsidiary, Mini Global even though they were unaware of what the Mini Global employee was doing.
1) "Retailer fined $53 million in FCPA violations" 2) "DOJ charged Pharmaceutical $70 million for third party bribery" 3) "Company charged $8 million for a bribe of an employee" ,

Vergleich in Betrugssache
