Portuguese term

execução criminal

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Other Prison System
Hi, this shows up in a set of prison records for a Brazilian court. Here's the sentence minus the confidential information:

"ATESTAMOS, para os devidos fins, que a sentenciaca (...) matricula no. (...), filha de (...) Execucao Criminal (...) da Vara de Execucoes Criminais da Comarca de São Paulo/SP mantém um ÓTIMO comportamento carcerário."

The part following the phrase is a number, the rest are names. As you can see it appears twice in this phrase, the second time in plural. It also appears later in the document as part of a table, simply with "execução" and the same number as above.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, yes there is a number after it where the brackets are in the quoted section.
Elenice Brasseland Apr 29, 2014:
@Martin Ok. If it's so, I agree with you/your answer.
Martin Riordan Apr 29, 2014:
@brasse It would be the number of the "processo de execução criminal".
Elenice Brasseland Apr 29, 2014:
Nicola Whyte: Is there a number right after **Execução Criminal**?

This is also referred to as "penal execution", so the second instance (Vara de Execuções Penais) could be translated as "Penal Execution Court".

(ii) Jury Courts, which judge crimes with malicious intent against human life. In this forum the decision is arrived at by the people, represented by jurors, chosen from among common citizens.
(iii) ****Courts to Instruct Compliance with Criminal Penalties ("Vara de Execuções Criminais")*** which supervise the measures necessary to ensure that sentences are duly served and penalties applied.
