Thank you, Jane. I didn't think of these possibilities, probably because "Orina" starts with "O" and "Sangre" starts with "S".

Cosnautas

You would find UC and HC and 30,000 more Spanish medical initialisms and acronyms here in this most useful online resource.

We also have an excellent, very comprehensive hard-copy resource in Ian Beattie's book, Medical Abbreviations Spanish-English, put out by the Editorial Club Universitario in Spain (available through Amazon).

Hi Peter. Yes, Cosnautas is the best and most comprehensive online resource. Ian Beattie's book is the best hard-copy resource that I know of; he has all of his 14,000+ Spanish entries with their meanings in Spanish, plus the English equivalent of each one.
Example sentence:

17 urocultivo || ≡ CO (cultivo de orina), CU (cultivo urinario), URC, URO || ◊ UC (urine culture)

Note from asker:
Thank you so much for these references, Joseph. They sound very useful. I found some Spanish/English medical dictionaries online, but none of them included the terms I was searching for.
