I was surprised by a blast of cold air Explanation: but yours is FINE -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2005-01-06 10:19:49 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- by definition, if you are \"surprised\" or \"unprepared\", you did not imagine whatever it was..... Translating it literally would be too cumbersome and pedestrian in my view. You have to think what someone English-speaking would have said or thought under similar circumstances -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2005-01-06 11:13:50 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I received a blast of cold air in my face that took me by surprise If you want to stick a little closer to the French but, I repeat, too many words and your translation will look just like a translation |
