German term or phrase: guter Sound
I know exactly what is meant here and "good sound" isn´t it. (Makes me think of audio equipment...)

This too is from a list of favorites under the heading Interests, sandwiched between cats and good food.

Essentially "good music" might do, but it is a bit bland and not quite the same thing.

I guess I am looking for something slightly slangy and "cool sounding" :-)

Thanks!!

cool sounds
Explanation:
Richard appears to have zapped himself, so I'll put back his suggestion (in a slightly modified version), which I still think is the best.

Thanks to everyone for the lively discussion. I hope other people will be able to benefit from it.

Special thanks to Nick (and Richard :-) and Ellen. In the end it was a tie for me between their answers. Others may also apply depending on the context....

Thanks!!

music

Explanation:
I think you can't write anything else in English without sounding corny. The German author probably though of the same thing so he resorted to Denglish which he probably thinks makes it sound cool. If you want to say that you like listening to 'good music' under a list of your interests, wouldn't you just write 'music'? Who listens to bad music? Have a look at online dating profiles: "I like long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, listening to Nine Inch Nails...oh, yes, almost forgot, I also like knitting and fly-fishing".

to asker\'s added note: then it\'s probably delving into the technicalities of audio technology. Excellent audio? Cool-sounding audio?

disagree  Nick Somers (X): I don't think the quality is the issue in this list of favourites// Agreed, but guess or not I still don't think a person would say "I like cats, good food and good acoustics" That's my guess (!) :-)//Nice one :-))

powerful/cool rhythm

Explanation:
"Guter Sound" bedeutet mir "geile Musik", "toller Rhythmus", "echter Klang".

Wie wäre es mit "coll rhythm" oder "powerful rhythm" im Englischen?

cool vibes

Explanation:
If you are looking for something slangy, this might be OK. The problem is that "Vibes" does not necessarily refer to music but is a rather general feeling about something- but "music with cool vibes" or "I like the cool vibes of music" is imo a bit clumsy again. So take it just as another idea. Or maybe "cool sound vibes"...(sorry, I'm just "brainstorming" my concert experiences...)

good music/muzak

Explanation:
I see nothing wrong with "good music", but if you want something "less bland", then perhaps "muzak" (i.e. the low-case slang form)
