These are water jugs made of a semi-porous clay, which allows evaporation through the clay to keep the water cool. They used to be ubiquitos throughout Spain. They have a little spout on the top and you drink from them by holding the jug above your head and tilting the spout toward your mouth. It is just like drinking from a bota or porron.
