fits Explanation: Hello "Montes" is related to "mount(ing)" etymologically but this does not work in English. As we speak of tyre fitters/fitting companies, I'd say that "montes" is closest to "fits" here. We would also say "this tyre fits my car" etc, so there is an indirect link between "montes" and "model" (Daryo's suggestion), but "montes" is not "(car) model", so the asker has to make a choice as to what she thinks is best in the context. |

23 tailles et 80 montes couvertes 23 (tyre) sizes covering 80 (car) models Explanation: 23 tailles et 80 montes couvertes = we make this tyre in 23 sizes, that are the fit for 80 different models of car (as often exactly the same tyre is the "recommended tyre" for more than one model of vehicle) CL5 about the meaning. if you look at https://res.cloudinary.com/proz/image/upload/v1709828438/kud... you can see 23 "sizes" for this model of tyre. And if you count the models they can be used on, you'll probably find about 80 of them. Unsurprisingly, each different "size" corresponds to only one part number, and each part number corresponds to only one "size" of tyre. So "la monte" CAN NOT be about the tyre itself. Or more precisely, not ONLY about the tyre. The only way I can see it making any sense IN THIS ST: "une monte" is the combination of a vehicle and the appropriate tyre. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2024-03-07 23:49:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- This is advertising. They might have used some "creative" method for counting the number of car models, like counting two variants of the same model as two different models, just to inflate the numbers. Or maybe they counted of the fact that hardly anyone is going to check the count. One way or another, can't see anything else that could make sense. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 days 11 hrs (2024-03-11 04:07:58 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- ... they counted *on* the fact that hardly anyone is going to check the count. |

Une monte décalée permet d’obtenir de meilleures performances grâce à un comportement de la voiture plus cohérent et équilibré. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 38 minutes (2024-03-07 17:06:43 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- so,I don't think it means "set" in the latter examples -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 40 minutes (2024-03-07 17:08:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- https://blog.quartierdesjantes.com/descendre-dune-taille-en-... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 44 minutes (2024-03-07 17:12:47 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- What is the Difference Between Summer and Winter Tyres A tyre is a tyre – or is it? As is so often the case, there is more to them than meets the eye. What they all have in common is that they are black, round, and have grooves. Of course, that is by no means all. Summer and winter tyres both have special features that make them easy to distinguish and which indicate why they are ideally suited for a particular season. During the other seasons, however, they could become a safety hazard. Broadly speaking, there are two main differences between summer and winter tyres. You will see these by looking at the different treads. In contrast to summer tyres for car, winter tyres have so-called sipes. This refers to very fine, mostly zigzag-shaped grooves on the tread blocks. These interlock with ice and snow in winter weather and therefore provide considerable protection against sliding. Not visible, but just as important, is the softer rubber compound of the winter tyres. This means that the tyres maintain enough grip even at low temperatures, whereas in the summer heat they lead to more abrasion and a significantly longer braking distance. If you are thinking ahead, you can buy winter tyres now and get ready for the colder season in advance. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 heures (2024-03-08 10:01:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- yes, "tyres". |
