French term

touradon

French to English Other Environment & Ecology

' but still doesn't help me find the English term! Thanks :)

Greater Tussock Sedge

I would say it like this. A loose tranlsation of the word "touradon" could be tuft, and I quite sure a tussock is a synonym of tuft. Check out the definitions for tuft and tussock, as well as this site for info regarding the "laiche paniculée".
Peer comment(s):

agree Nick Lingris : My suggestion: tussocks (of Carex paniculata) or tussock sedges.

small mound of vegital debris

I really don't think we have a term in English for "touradon". You may want to take an end run around the problem and simply describe what it is. I included a suggestion above to get the juices flowing, even if you have to tweak it a little.

Below are two more definitions in French to help clarify matters:

I hope that's helpful. Happy translating,

Matthew
