German term

frisch

German to English Medical Medical (general) CCT nativ
Es liegen keine Voruntersuchungen zum Vergleich vor ... Kein frisch demarkierter Insult.

I am wondering what the "frisch" came from. I thought the CT did not provide information on the nature and age of an ischemic stroke

@Swaiyam That's what I meant, but obviously it's not a stylistic issue here.

Ahaa... Thank you

There are no prior examinations available ...
Anne Schulz Jun 13, 2015:
Swaiyam, CCT does provide some information about the age of an ischemic lesion, except for the very first hours after the insult where CCT is much less sensitive than MRI. In particular, old lesions are clearly demarcated while the boundaries of newer lesions are blurred (up to the point of being just vaguely perceivable to the trained eye in fresh lesions). <br />The point here seems to be that there are lesions present. While the examiner cannot rely on previous imaging to define their age, he/she seems to be saying that none of the lesions shows a demarcation pattern of a fresh or recent insult (which is, of course, a less sensitive and less reliable method of defining age than a comparison with recent previous images.)
Ramey Rieger (X) Jun 13, 2015:
Good morning Swaiyam could it be that the 'keine frisch... refers to the prior examinations?
There are no previous examinations to compare (results with), no recently demarcated insult.

...'frisch' bezieht sich hier auf den Insult bzw. auf 'frische Anzeichen' für einen Schlaganfall (möglicherweise auch im Vergleich zu früheren Aufnahmen). Die Übersetzung wäre:

"""no signs/evidence of recent/acute stroke"""
