Spanish term

autoliquidaciones

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Banking - payment keypad instructions
I am translating the messages which appear on the screen of a payment keypad used in Spain. The term "autoliquidación" here refers to the payment of "tributos" and appears in the following ways:

Totales Autoliquidaciones:
Imprimir Autoliquidaciones
Introduzca los datos de la autoliquidación
Autoliquidaciones

This is not "self-assessment" as it involves paying money to the ayuntamiento via this device and I am not convinced by "self-liquidation" which appears in the glossary.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to all of you for your help and suggestions. After consulting with the client, we decided to go with my idea of "self-assessment payments". The payments were being made for taxes that weren't billed directly and the responsibility for their calculation and payment lies with the payee himself. Thanks again for all your help!

Sorry, then. That's what I was said. I guess I misunderstood. Anyway, in that case, self assessment payament could fit in the context. Sorry again and thanks a lot for the explanation.
Rebecca Hendry (asker) Oct 23, 2006:
Hi María. self-assessment isn't a kind of tax, but a way of working out how much income tax you owe. The self-employed here in the UK do not pay tax as they earn (the PAYE system) but file a tax return at the end of the year and "self-assess" the amount of tax they have to pay.
Maria Garcia Oct 23, 2006:
Lo digo porque, por el contexto que propones, me parece que buscas más un término genérico para todos los tipos de impuesto que recaude la Administración de que se trate, y por lo que he visto el self assessment es un tipo de impuesto.

Self-assessment is not a special kind of tax?http://www.direct.gov.uk/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/Taxes/SelfAsses...

This website has an interesting decription of what "autoliquidaciones" are - http://www.azuqueca.es/index.php?id=972
Having read that definition, do you think "self-assessment payments" could fit this context?

Not very sure at all what this sentence is trying to say, about a company's arrangements for paying off pension debts in arrears:

Las sumas a ser canceladas en cada momento se ajustarán por exceso o por defecto a la suma mas cercana para cumplir siempre de manera total, autoliquidaciones completas por capital e intereses desde la mas antigua hasta la mas reciente

declaration and payment

Below is the RAE definition of autoliquidacion. I think that "declaration and payment" or just "declaration" would work.

autoliquidación.

1. f. Der. Declaración, cuantificación y pago del importe de un tributo, realizados por el sujeto pasivo de este, normalmente mediante impresos oficiales.

self tax-payment form

Si hablas del impreso de autoliquidación, puede ser una posibilidad.

Autoliquidación is, generally speaking, a form you can fill in yourself in order to pay the tax. In fact, in Spain there are many taxes only payable by using those kind of forms.

Hope it helps.
