incremental launching

despite the fact that cimbra can be centering (which is formwork to support arches), this is not the term needed here. Cimbra can also mean shuttering, so the literal translation is a "pushed" self-suporting shuttering (but I don't suggest you use that). This "pushing" is actually called "launching" in bridge building, or, more specifically, incremental launching (a segment of the bridge is cast in concrete in a short, stationary shuttering and incrementally shifted by hydraulic jacks. Individual segments are joined with prestressing tendons. After a section has been cast, it is lifted by the hydraulic jacks for sliding out slowly to the next pier or auxiliary support pillar. The tip of the bridge is reinforced with a launching nose made of steel. This procedure is repeated until the bridge reaches the other abutment or until the bridge sections meet in the middle). Incremental launching is a cast-in-place method as opposed to a precast method.
