Hi everyone,
this is a strange question, but I hope someone can help me.
I'm doing a transcription of an old American movie and there is a part where they talk about some genealogical document which they call "after David, or Davis" I can't quite understand because the sound is bad, does anyone know how this document is relly called?
Thanks a lot

Sorry, I didn't notice that this was an English monolingual question. The English definition in NODE – The New Oxford Dictionary of English for "affidavit" is "a written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation, for use as evidence in court"

The term is probably "affidavit" = "eidliche Erklärung" or "Offenbarungseid" or "eidesstatliche Erklärung" or even "Affidavit-Aussage".
