outlying suburbs Explanation: Culled from your own notes ;-) Interestingly, I found this: Während der zur Hauptstadtregion gehörende engere Verflechtungsraum mit Berlin zusammen mit dem Stadtgebiet Berlin beachtliche Umsatzsteigerungen verzeichnen konnte, blieb der äußere Entwicklungsraum des Landes in der Umsatzentwicklung deutlich zurück. http://www.bbu.de/publicity/bbu/internet.nsf/index/de_PR_Inf... From the above, I understand that Hauptstadtregion = Verflechtungsraum + Stadtgebiet Does that help you? |

clustered urban area/suburbs // (sub)urban patchwork/mosaic Explanation: Tough to say as long as the German term is in this case open to interpretation. Anyway, just a few ideas for you to consider ... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2007-02-23 11:43:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- - interlinked populated areas? (albeit pretty yukky style-wise) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 days (2007-02-27 10:09:14 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- outer-metropolitan areas? The Australian Electoral Commission classifies lower house seats into four regions - inner-metropolitan, outer-metropolitan, provincial and rural. http://www.smh.com.au/news/Opinion/Labors-hopes-rest-on-seat... |
