English term or phrase: displaced compensation
What is a displaced compensation in translation?
(with regards to a given instance of loss-for example loss of specific meaning/lexis of source text as in puns-and in relation to a parallel and a contiguous compensation).

If the word is used literally then where about is it displaced in a given target text in comparison with the source text?

It would be very helpful if one could distinguish the parallel, contiguous and displaced compensation in translation for me.

Some initial preassumptions:
Parallel-referrring to the exact location in source and target text respectively?
Contiguous-referring to a successive location in the target text in relation to the source text (eg the next sentence?)?

Contextual background:This article from the Linguist cites keith Harvey's model on 'The Descriptive Framework for Compensation'.

Issue in question:I am trying to understand how this strategy (ie these compensation types) can be implemented for very challenging 'untranslatable' language; this maybe an idea on how to go about cultural deviations which do not exist in both respective languages.
