以下、該当箇所です。
JIS B 9920 では空気１㎥中粒子径 0.1μm以上の粒子数の10のべき乗により定義している。
10のべき乗は、ALCで調べると様々な言い方があるようです。

: それは「...の１０乗」=同じ数字を10回掛けること ("2 raised to the power of 10 is 1024")で、意味が違いますよ。

Yukiさんのコメントを読んで、言っていることの意味がクリアになりました。
JIS規格の確認もせず、みなさんにお手間を取らせてしまい、ごめんなさい。
例えば、0.1μm以上の粒子が1,000個であれば、10の4乗で、指数の4から
classification は、class 4 ということになります。
JIS規格とUS Federal規格の比較表が、原文中にもありましたので、
日本語が少々変でも、表を見れば意味がわかるので、混乱もないということでしょうか？(~o~)
まあ、他にも変な日本語満載の文書なのですが・・・・
