svarkjede

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering Telecom(munications)
If you don't pick up your phone then the caller is forwarded/diverted/redirected to another number in your 'svarkjede' and so on. This has already been addressed by kudoz from NO to Sv here:

I wondered if there was a wordsmith here who had the correct term for this in English (or if there isn't one then a good suggestion).

call forwarding

Used to be a big thing in the 90's when Ameritech introduced free voicemail boxes and AT&T followed with free call forwarding services. Didn't bother with finding a reference past Wikipedia though. This is a common knowledge thing for Americans.
