Norwegian term

Partsvitne

Norwegian to English Law/Patents Law (general) Witness testimony
I am trying to figure out the difference between partsvitne and vitne. Can it possibly be that partsvitne must belong to the company that is a party to the case, while vitne can be anybody at all? Thanks!

Party witness

When a party to the lawsuit (plaintiff or defendant) a witness, the witness is called party witness. Please see http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/witness.
Also see http://forskning.no/forskningsetikk/2017/02/ous-ut-mot-stott... wherein it is mentioned 'Det konstaterte OUS' partsvitne John-Anker Zwart ...'. John-Anker Zwart who belongs to OUS (Oslo Universitetssykehus) which is a party to the dispute, is a party witness.
