the source of light -- light being the condition of vision, and vision being the pre-eminent (most acute) sensory avenue of knowledge; God being the subject of unlimited knowledge (omniscience)
the source of warmth -- warmth being the physical analogue of affection, love; God being the agent of inexhaustible love (omnibenevolence)
the controlling influence on earth -- as the cause of the seasons, the very conditions of life); God being the power that brought the universe into being and that continually sustains it (omnipotence)
vs. the earth (the pit of the sublunary realm) as a compendium of defects
