I have found in a text tranlated from English into Romanian the translation for "by boat" (here it means "to go anywhere by ship, not by little boat") as "Cu vaporul". It seems to me that it is not correct, because I speak French and know that vapeur in French means steamer, not a ship. But my friend says that when you travel by boat you call it Cu vaporul. Is it right or there is a better translation for "by boat" with the necessary meaning?

If you only have to translate "boat" then you can use "vapor", I suppose. Boat also means in English "ambarcaţiune; barcă; luntre; şalupă; vas; corabie; submarin - RDE- Dictionar EN-RO

I have to translate the phrase by boat but the word boat has also the meaning "little vessel for two or three persons" and in my context this word means "a big boat" or "ship."
