English term or phrase: salamander
...potatoes can be heated in the oven or browned lightly under a salamander or broiler
Meli Gonzlez
Spanish translation:salamandra o parilla
Explanation:
What you refer to are 'grills' that are part of a cooker but placed at eye-level, used for grilling foods, making toast, browning etc. However, this type of cooker is not available in Spain.

I found 'salamandra', by following up a lead that 'salamanders' are used a lot in Mexico. However, in Spain a 'salamandra' is different (it's a round stove used mostly for heating, with a tube as a chimney for the smoke)

This text - with the clues given by 'por encima' and 'dorado' - would indicate that 'salamandra' is OK.

Another possibility is 'parilla'

"11.Saltear conducción saute
12.Grill (parrilla) conducción/radiación griller
13.Broil (salamandra) conducción/radiación griller
14.Braise (saltear/cubrir con líquido 1/4) conducción/convección braiser"

salamander = hornillo portátil

Explanation:
