male seedling
We normally just refer to plants as male and female. Kiwis, for example, require male and female plants to pollinate properly.

Kasvukas
: Agree if the context allows for a general term. Plant sexuality is awfully complicated, and "poikataimi" seems to be used in Finnish as well.

Just be careful. If this is at all for a general audience, "staminate" will go over most peoples' heads. Most English speakers couldn't tell a spruce from a pine if their lives depended on it. The level of botanical knowledge is very different in Finland
